IHIT X HKBU AI in Health Care Webinar Series
AI in Healthcare Webinar Co-organised by HKBU and Hospital Authority
The Department in collaboration with Institute of Health IT, Hospital Authority, launched an IHIT x HKBU AI in Healthcare Webinar series to introduce how AI can be incorporated to revolutionize a wide range of healthcare services. The webinar series is also organized in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Faculty of Science, HKBU.
Five webinars were organized from December 2020 to August 2021. Each webinar has been delivered by a professional of the Department and addressed different issues of the area. Several thousand of audiences have participated in the entire series and was full of constructive interaction.
The first webinar was delivered by Prof. William Cheung, former Head and Professor of the Department, on “Integrating EHR Data and Medical Ontologies for Predictive Analytics in Healthcare” on 14 December 2020. In the Webinar, Dr. Cheung presented how EHR data and ontologies could be integrated using data analytics and artificial intelligence techniques for related predictive analytics tasks.

The second webinar was delivered by Prof. Jiming Liu, Dean of Faculty of Science and Chair Professor of the Department, on “Data-Driven Infectious Disease Modeling” on 16 March 2021. In the Webinar, Prof. Liu presented how to effectively control the spread of disease with the help of data-driven models.

Prof. Yuen Pong Chi, Associate Dean, Faculty of Science and Chair Professor, Department of Computer Science, delivered the third webinar of the series on “Deep Learning for Risk Prediction on Clinical Data” on 6 May 2021. In the Webinar, Prof. Yuen presented how to improve performance on prediction of the risk of disease and mortality with the help of machine learning models.

On 13 July 2021, Dr. Eric Zhang Lu, Assistant Professor of the Department, delivered the fourth webinar of the series on “Application of Bioinformatics and Multiomics Sequencing on Disease Diagnosis and Treatment”. Dr. Zhang presented how to explore human multiomics data with the help of bioinformatics and machine learning algorithms.

The fifth webinar “Blockchain and Healthcare Applications” held on 10 Aug 2021, Prof. Xu Jianliang, Current Head and Professor of the Department, presented how to facilitate healthcare applications with the latest technology of Blockchain.
